Geodesic domes are very strong for the size and weight of their parts. They can enclose large areas without any center supports, using small pieces.

The word "geodesic" refers to a method, developed by Buckminster Fuller, of building spherical structures out of a grid of triangles.

Megadome Construction Company has created a system for making models of these geodesic shapes from punched straws and paper or plastic hubs.

This large dome was part of the Expo '67 in Montreal, Canada.

Make your own polyhedra with our shapes and some paper clips.
